Fire the Cannons! Cannon Films that is! Shaun and Brose team-up to look at the big gun talent Golan and Globus lured to Cannon during their command of the Cannon empire in our newest line of Chatflix Minis.

Before the Turtles thrust Ninja into the zeitgeist and long before Tom Cruise even dreamed of being The Last Samurai, Michael Dudikoff was the American Ninja! Would you believe Dudikoff had no martial arts training before he made this film? We would!

With previous ChatFlix episodes looking at a crazed clown, a zombie apocalypse and a psycho camp killer, this week we lock the door, run upstairs and hide in a closet because now it’s time to chat the 1978 John Carpenter classic: Halloween!

Babysitter Brose has planned pumpkin carving activities to distract Shaun and Jarrod from the mental hospital escapee Michael Myers, who looks an awful lot like the dude from Star Trek with no make up!

Jamie Lee Curtis kicks off her Scream Queen reign as our hero, Laurie Strode. Supported by former James Bond villain, Donald Pleasence as Loomis as they attempt to survive the night ‘the guy who directed The Last Starfighter came home.’

Fire the Cannons! Cannon Films that is! Shaun and Brose team-up to look at the big gun talent Golan and Globus lured to Cannon during their command of the Cannon empire in our newest line of Chatflix Minis.

Starting with Charles Bronson, who is back as architect turned vigilante Paul Kersey, dishing out vengeance to all those troublesome gangs wishing for death so badly IN Death Wish 3 (so Death Wish-y this one doesn’t even need a subtitle).

This week we set up camp at Crystal Lake, we'll be ok, yeah? Brose is joined by Sophie, Matt and Jarrod to chat the genesis of Jason Voorhees and the evolution of the slasher film.

Of course we discuss all the stars; Adrienne King, Kevin Bacon and... um... the guy from the police desk in Superman and... um... that weird Scooby Doo fella... you know... from Trading Places? All the stars!

Find out our thoughts on the first step of one of the most enduring horror franchises in cinema history.

In this week's Chatflix Mini, Brose and Stu will have to wait until dark and sneak into Audrey Hepburn's apartment in search of a heroin stuffed doll. Don;t ask why, just because! While you wait, they’ll chat about Terence Young’s 1967 non-James Bond Enclosed Space Thriller flick - Wait Until Dark.

With a Home Alone Hepburn and not so wet bandits Richard Crenna, Jack Weston, and a very young Alan Arkin supported by (close you eyes and listen for Batman Animated Series butler Alfred) Efrem Zimbalist Jr.

Remember to get done before morning guys, they say Hepburn has plans for breakfast.

On the other side of a zombie apocalypse, Brose is unsure how he would fare... if using Colombus' rules as a guide, he'd be stuffed! Luckily, at least for this episode, he will have the help of Danielle and Kathryn.

The tea double taps their way through this great film, starring Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin.

With a ten year gap before the sequel, how does the original hold up? Listen to this week's episode to find out!

Oct 11, 2019

As a bonus to our Joker review, ChatFlix regular Adam R. Thomas had a chat with friend and Clinical Neuropsychologist and Research Fellow Dr Kate Rachel Gould from the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health, Monash University, for her unique, professional perspective on Joker.

An informative insight into the perception of mental illness and the representation in this powerful film.

Oct 8, 2019

No joking and no clowning around, this week the Chatflix team sit down for a SPOILER filled chat unpacking their reactions to the NEW release, JOKER.

Brose crams regular panelists, Danielle, Trev, Jarrod, James and Adam into a clown car as they chat garbage strikes, stand up comedy and late night talk show hosts.

Will Joaquin Phoenix terrifying portrayal of Arthur Fleck be remembered as a King of Comedy? Or something much, much worse? And is Todd Phillips, the guy who made Old School and the Hangover the right person to juggle such a delicate topic?

Oct 3, 2019

After much searching and investigating, Brose and Stu tracked down a phone booth and locked themselves inside to chat about Joel Schumacher's 2002 enclosed space thriller Phone Booth!

An all star cast (Colin Farrell, Kiefer Sutherland, Forest Whitaker, Radha Mitchell and Katie Holmes), a single location and two weeks of shooting: what could go wrong? Listen this week to find out!

Oct 1, 2019

This week Brose dons his PJs and gets his crane on as he chats with Danielle, Adam and James about the 1984 classic; The Karate Kid.

We chat Ralph Macchio's machismo, Pat Morita's clap and William Zabka's babka. Why is this film so enduring after so many years and did we all realise it's just a reboot of Rocky (it is even directed by the same person!)

Cobra Kai and the infamous The Karate Kid fan theory get a mention and we propose out own spin off films; The Karate Girlfriend and The Karate Man. Which would you see?

Sep 26, 2019

Catch the Red Eye to a new Chatflix Mini. Stu’s allocated seat is right beside Brose, together they’ll chat another in a new string of Enclosed Space Thrillers. No extra leg room here!

Secure your seatbelt tightly as the two chat the Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy thriller from 2005.

You won’t need to know where your closest exits are because you’ll be cravin’ all the insights these two deliver on this sometimes oft forgotten Wes Craven flick.

Sep 24, 2019

This week Brose is locked up with Looch, Kathryn and Emily to chat one of the most beloved films of all time; The Shawshank Redemption. The Stephen King adaptation that just has IT, a film that won't leave you in a state of MISERY, THE SHINING light in director Frank Darrabont's career.

This week we ask the big questions; Why is this film in everyone's favourite film list? What IS a Shawshank? And who is Stuart in Die Hard 2? Hey, Stuart!

Tim Robins, Morgan Freeman, Bob Gunton, Clancy Brown and Drake from Aliens star in this incredible film. Listen in to see if this is a 5 star winner from this week's ChatFlix team.

In our third Melbourne Fringe Festival episode for 2019, Brose is tangled in the tempestuous tentacles as he chats The Hunger Games with Boss Octopus!

We discuss the pure, rich charisma of some of the cast (Jennifer Lawrence and Woody Harrelson especially), the origin of the love triangle (I'm a Liam Hemsworth guy myself) and our favourite Stanley Tucci quotes from Easy A!

Boss Octopus is on during the Melbourne Fringe Festival, details and tickets at:

A. The 1994, Robert Redford directed flick; Quiz Show

Q. Who are your panelists this week?

A. Brose is joined by Shaun Micallef's Mad as Hell regular Stephen Hall

Q. Yes or No. Do you need to be a fan of Quiz Shows to appreciate this episode?

A. No, but being a fan of Ralph Fiennes, Jon Turturro and Rob Morrow sure doesn’t hurt.

And remember, ChatFlix is brought to you by Geritol. Geritol. America's #1 tonic. Geritol, the fast-acting, high-potentcy tonic, that helps you feel... stronger... fast...

Sep 12, 2019

In our second Melbourne Fringe Festival episode for 2019, Brose chats Moana with Isabella Valette the stage of 'How Far I'll Go.'

We tackle the big issues; Can Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson sing? Why is the pig in this film? How do you pronounce Pua? And how many times did Brose cry during this film?

How Far I'll Go is on during the Melbourne Fringe Festival; details and tickets at: melbournefringe.com.au

This week Brose is joined by Bat-fan and After The Snow illustrator Trev Wood and comic book tragics; Looch and Jazz. They sit down to relive the 1997 big screen comic book flick: Batman and Robin.

Joel Schumacher’s first franchise instalment was a legitimate box office giant. The second effort... not so much... Warner Bros. wanted to sell toys, so they upped the ante and cast THE BIGGEST STAR IN THE WORLD; Arnold Schwarzenegger AND indie darling; Uma Thurman, fresh off Pulp Fiction.

The new baddies faced off against a recast Caped Crusader; George Clooney. And why not? I’m sure the core demographic loved George in ER... And Clueless star, Alicia Silverstone making her debut as Batgirl. Oh, and Chris O'Donnell... shows up... again...

After 20+ years what do the guys make of the 4th time out for the not-so Dark Knight? Are there fond memories or were they just left out in cold?
Sep 5, 2019

In our first Melbourne Fringe Festival episode for 2019, Brose chats Princess Protection Program with two of the stars of Princess Problems; Meerna Yousif and Maddison Verduci.

We discuss whether Selena Gomez is better than Demi Lovato (or are they just one and the same), who is besties with who and will Brose ever watch this film ever again?

Princess Problems is on during Melbourne Fringe Festival; details and tickets at: melbournefringe.com.au

The 156th episode of ChatFlix brings you the 9th and latest flick from Quentin Tarantino: Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood.

In a spoiler-filled chat Brose, James and Danielle chat themselves back to the swinging 60’s and get entwined in a tale featuring faded stars, stuntmen, cults and free love in the final years of the Hollywoods Golden Age.

Who’s the better actor? Leo or Rick Dalton? Is Brad Pitt a believable stunt double even at 56?! And how does it all tie into Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate and those real life events? Has QT overstayed his welcome? Or is 9th time a charm?

These questions may be answered in a little story that happened once upon a time... on ChatFlix.

From the dawn of time Highlander sequels came, moving silently through the 90s and 2000’s. No one has ever known of this made for television movie sequel; Highlander: The Source… until now!

This week’s Chatflix Mini has Stu and Shaun crossing swords once again, in an attempt to decapitate this TV movie, the final and arguably the worst of the Highlander sequels (which Brose will also argue Brose, despite that he has never seen it)

Adrian Paul, Thekla Reuter, Cristian Solimeno and Peter Wingfield star in this film as the franchise goes out with a whimper. No one is asking for the recipe of this Secret Source.

There can be only one… only one more… there can be only one more ‘last one’… one.

Aug 27, 2019

Brose is joined by Stu, James and Danielle to look through the lens at an Alfred Hitchcock classic!

As always we discuss the most important elements of this film; Why isn't Jeffries into Lisa? Who has the better body at 46, James Stewart or Cary Grant? And how effective is a flash as weapon (before the handle is used to built a light sabre)?

Grace Kelly radiates as Raymond Burr grumbles through a film shot on one of Hollywood's most spectacular sets.

Become a peeping tom with us and enjoy Rear Window.

Aug 22, 2019

This week Stu and Shaun chat the nature of Highlander villains having a name begging with 'K,' who is the best McLeod and was Ross Whedon's Buffy: The Vampire Slayer influenced by this film?

Highlander Endgame sees the merging of the film series and the TV series (yes, there was a TV series!) so we have double McLeods with Duncan and Connor. Christopher Lambert and Adrian Paul team up to defeat Bruce Payne's Kell (see, 'K') and an appearance by Donnie Yen's Jin Ke (another 'K').

We promise you will enjoy this podcast more than the film... unless you are Shaun!

Aug 20, 2019

Ghostbusters 2's plot is the worst kind of popular tripe, its methods are sloppy, and its conclusion is highly questionable! Ghostbusters 2 is a poor film!

5 years after the original Ghostbusters blew us away we got Ghostbusters 2. Reuniting the original cast in a brand new story pitting then against a river of ectoplasm and a resurgence of paranormal activity.
Sticking two fingers high up in the air Brose is back in business with Ghostbusters comic collaborator Tristan Jones, Victorian Ghostbuster Cable and comedian Angus Brown to chat Ghostbusters 2.

Will they look back on the Ivan Reitman sequel fondly? Or are Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver and Ernie Hudson's second efforts too little, too late?

Download now to find out!

Aug 15, 2019

Stu and Shaun sit down again to address another Highlander sequel; Highlander 3: The Sorcerer. Also; will Stu and Shaun resolve the name of this film? The Sorcerer? The Final Dimension? What exactly is it?!?

Remember Stu said last week that he had to give Highlander 2 a better score than he'd prefer so he would have 'somewhere to go?' Do you think he needed to save room for a higher or lower score...? Find out this week!

Mario Van Peebles, Deborah Kara Unger and Mako join a returning Christopher Lambert. Will you return to the Highlander with us?

Aug 13, 2019

For our 150th episode we’re diving to 25,000 feet below the oceans surface. Pop on your best scuba gear and dive right in with Brose, Danielle and Jarrod as they explore, for its 30th Anniversary, The Abyss.

Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Michael Biehn and a water pseudopod.. yep, definitely a pseudopod and not something else... star in one of cinema's most epic underwater sensations.

Together the Chatflix crew will sink deeper and deeper into writer/director James Cameron’s imagination. Will they find his most under appreciated flick or just The Abuse.

Aug 8, 2019

Stu and Shaun go head to head to decide if there is only one good Highlander sequel (or none at all). Over the next 4 weeks Stu and Shaun will take us through the 5 Highlanders sequels and hopefully don't lose their heads.

Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery return and are joined by Shaun's favourite Virginia Madsen and the original one armed man; Michael Ironside!

Step back to 1991 and see what we think of this epic sequel.
